Lou Higgins Recreation Center: The B-W Baseball Holiday Skills Camp is held in the field house of the newly-renovated Lou Higgins Center. Campers will practice in the same state-of-the-art facilities that the Yellow Jackets use for their off-season training and winter practices. The field house’s three multipurpose courts provide plenty of room for pitching and fielding drills, and the Jackets’ dual batting cages give every camper an opportunity to work on his or her hitting technique in live batting practice.

-
Directions: The Lou Higgins Center is located at 136 East Bagley Road in Berea, Ohio, across from the George Finnie Stadium. Campers coming to Berea on Interstate 71 should exit at Bagley Road (Exit 235) and head west a little more than a mile to the B-W campus. The Higgins Center will be on the left side of Bagley Road just after the traffic light at Tressel Street.
For more detailed directions, please consult this MapQuest street map of the B-W campus. Fill in the “Get Directions” form below the map and MapQuest will create your custom driving directions and trip maps.
Please enter the Higgins Center through the west entrance, which is located on the Beech Street side of the building, just off the parking lot, and follow the main hallway to the Skills Camp registration table in the lobby.
Check-In: Campers aged 9–11 should arrive at the Higgins Center before 9 a.m. for their morning session and campers aged 12–16 should arrive for their afternoon session before 1 p.m.
Parents: Parents are welcome to accompany campers and observe all sessions of the Skills Camp. We invite all parents to join us at the end of the final session for a certificate ceremony where campers will be recognized for their participation and parents will get some helpful coaching tips.
Equipment
Clothing: Campers should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the physical activity involved in baseball practice. Uniform jerseys, baseball pants and sweats are welcome but not required. Campers must wear clean tennis shoes, court shoes, sneakers or similar indoor athletic shoes. Shoes with rubber cleats, turf shoes and black-soled running shoes can damage the field house surface and are not permitted at the Skills Camp.
Baseball Equipment: Each camper should bring his or her own fielding mitt to the Skills Camp. They should also bring their own bat, batting gloves and a baseball cap, if they have them. Catcher’s equipment is not required to participate in catching drills, however, campers can bring their own equipment and use it during these drills. For your own security, please label any equipment you bring to the Skills Camp.
Drinks: Water will be provided for campers. Please do not bring water bottles, sports drinks, snacks or gum to the Skills Camp.
